Internet Security

Seriously, every time I get on MSN, I see many of my friends sending me such messages asking me to enter the phishing sites, may it be for weight loss or free gadgets like IPhone or whatsoever, and it is pissing me off big time! I’d then start thinking to myself, are my friends really that stupid to have clicked on the phishing sites hence getting the virus or what actually happened because almost a quarter of them are spamming me with such messages!

Until one fine day my friend took a screenshot of what I sent and showed me, and yeah it is very embarrassing because I have also become a spammer! One of my friend explained to me that we do not certainly have to click on the websites to start spamming people with such messages because our accounts have actually been hacked into! My friend then suggested that I change my password and voila! No one complained about me being a spammer anymore!

There are many different types of viruses around, like Trojan, Spyware, Adware and Worms. Some are very dangerous, while some are mild and does not do much harm to our computers but still, it is best for us to have an updated anti-virus software like Norton Antivirus (Very popular in Singapore) to keep our computers safe and secured!

Lastly, I am going to talk about internet security in the context of online shopping. I think that online shopping has become very popular nowadays, and this also increased the chances of us getting cheated! We should always purchase something on a safe and secured site by checking out for the locked padlock at the top/ bottom of the page before releasing our personal or credit card information. Otherwise, we can also choose to use secured payment methods like DBS IBanking, UOB IBanking or Paypal. To ensure that the merchant is real and reliable, we can check reviews or feedbacks on the merchant’s page!
